Canadian citizen wanted for intimidation, including stalking, arrested by CBP officers

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Buffalo’s Amtrak station border crossing arrested a Canadian citizen on a felony warrant from Dallas County, Texas.

On Aug. 22, CBP officers encountered 48-year-old Nikolay Sapov, a Canadian citizen, traveling on the Amtrak train. During Sapov’s inspection, CBP officers discovered an active National Crime Information Center (NCIC) felony warrant for intimidation, including stalking, issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.

"CBP officers at the Port of Buffalo remain vigilant in identifying individuals who may be wanted by law enforcement agencies across the country,” said Sharon Swiatek, Acting Port Director for the Area Port of Buffalo. “This arrest demonstrates the important role our officers play in protecting our communities and supporting our law enforcement partners.”

During secondary inspection, CBP officers confirmed Sapov’s identity and verified the NCIC warrant. Sapov was taken into custody and processed by CBP officers before being turned over to the New York State Police for extradition to Texas. Sapov is in the custody of the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office as a fugitive from justice pending extradition to Texas.
